Dr. Tom A. Wiggins is a master facilitator of leadership development for the US Army. Dr. Wiggins holds several degrees ranging from business to political science terminating with a his doctorate in policy and strategy. He has written extensively in his field publishing dozens of articles and he currently has five books on the market. Dr. Wiggins enjoys meeting and speaking to new audiences to share his leadership philosophy.
Dr. Wiggins’ illustrious career with the Army began as an Airborne Ranger with five combat deployments to his credit. His military service was cut short by a rocket propelled grenade (RPG). Tom was forced to medically retire from the Army but quickly found his skills useful as a private military contractor (PMC). During his time as a PMC, Tom served in positions from overseas security manager, to Executive Director, and eventually President. As the Global War of Terrorism (GWOT) wound down, Dr. Wiggins once again swore an oath to the Army, this time as an Army Civilian.
Since 2009 Dr. Wiggins has written and taught direct, organizational, and strategic level leadership to senior military personnel ranging from Captains to Colonels and GS09s to GS15s. During his fifteen years of teaching Tom has found a passion in coaching and building relationships with his more than 20,000 students. Many of Tom’s teams today remain in constant contact creating an Army of powerful think tanks. Dr. Wiggins has been invited to lead courses on every major Army installation as well as Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
Dr. Wiggins’ leadership philosophy is to make every minute count. He helps leaders explore their strengths and weaknesses to better understand their strategic environment in order to leverage their competitive advantage. Dr. Wiggins is recognized as an innovative strategist himself and has led multiple Army level strategic initiatives including the Mission Command Philosophy and most recently the Army People Strategy Civilian Implementation Plan for supervisors. Dr. Wiggins prides himself on assisting leaders through a wide range of strategic issues which are constantly improving the Army.
