Mandy Tinkey attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where she was the first graduate to receive a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Forensic Chemistry with minors in Biology and Criminal Justice. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from National University. Mandy Tinkey began her career as a scientist in the field of Forensics and then went on to become an expert in the fields of Drug Chemistry and Crime Scene Processing. After several years active in the field and on the bench, Mandy went on to enter a leadership role for the Medical Examiner’s Forensic Laboratory Division overseeing several disciplines including Drug Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Latent Prints, Crime Scene Processing and a Mobile Forensic Laboratory. Since entering into leadership, Mandy climbed the hierarchical ladder by directly leading each individual division, next moving her career forward as an Operations Manager of a Medical Examiner’s Officer Morgue Operations and ultimately earning the role of Director of the Forensic Laboratory Division and Administrator.
Mandy has served for several years as adjunct faculty, teaching in the graduate program in Forensic Science at Duquesne University as well as teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Franciscan University. Mandy holds a certification as a Crime Scene Analyst from the International Association of Identification and is a Certified Forensic Manager – Level 1 through the American Society of Crime Lab Directors Leadership Academy. Mandy serves on several committees through the American Society of Crime Lab Directors, the Pennsylvania State Coroners Association, and serves as a Board Member of the PA Forensic Laboratory Director’s Working Group.
Mandy Tinkey has dedicated herself to the field of Forensics, Leadership, and Wellness. With direct field experience in Drug Chemistry, Death Investigations, and Crime Scene Processing examining cases in the public sector dedicating herself to the service of her community. Mandy has embraced her leadership role by leading and inspiring others to reach their full potential while serving the public service.
Mandy has devoted herself to encouraging teams to enhance their awareness of mental wellness, peer support, vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. Together we are stronger. Mandy has a focus on not only forensics but also the role of women in science and leadership, vicarious trauma, and peer support.
